2023

Vala explores the relationship dancers have with their profession and the arc of their careers.
In 2023, she created two works for the Iceland Dance Company in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

The first work, Last Dance?, is a audio work composed of stories from dancers who have been part of the company since its founding, reflecting on their connection to dance and the experience of stepping away from it. The work was presented in the Small Stage of The Reykjavík City Theatre.

The second work, Dansa, hvað er betra en að dansa, is a series of solos performed by current members of the company, each sharing their personal dance history through movement and presence. This piece was performed on the Main Stage of The Reykjavík City Theatre.
