2016-2024

Vala has worked with the art collective in various projects, both life performance and video work.

The Icelandic Love Corporation (ILC) is an Icelandic art collective founded in 1996 by Jóní Jónsdóttir, Eirún Sigurðardóttir, and Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir. Jóní and Eirún remain the current members of the group.

Working across performance, video, photography, and installation, ILC combines playfulness, humor, and visual spectacle with sincerity and a subtle feminist critique. Their work often explores ideas of femininity, collaboration, and social perception through a distinctly Icelandic lens.

Over the years, ILC has collaborated with artists such as Björk Guðmundsdóttir, GusGus, Ensemble Adapter, Ragnar Kjartansson, and Kiyoshi Yamamoto. Their works have been presented at major venues including MoMA (New York), MASS MoCA (Massachusetts), ARoS Kunstmuseum (Denmark), Schirn Kunsthalle (Germany), Kunsthalle Wien (Vienna), Amos Anderson Art Museum (Helsinki), and Lilith Performance Studio (Sweden).

ILC was shortlisted for the Icelandic Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2017 and nominated as Art Group of Reykjavík by the city’s Department of Culture and Tourism in 2018.

The Icelandic Love Corporation is represented by Gallery Gudmundsdottir (Berlin), Listval Gallery (Reykjavík), and Pinksummer Contemporary Art (Genova).-
