2020-21

Derringur is a dance project by Valgerður Rúnarsdóttir and Snædís Lilja Ingadóttir, created in collaboration with musician Sveinbjörn Thorarensen (Hermigervill) and set designer Rebekka Ingimundardóttir. The work was developed with elementary school children across four regions of Iceland.

Inspired by Icelandic weather and the four seasons, the project explored movement, imagination, and collective creation. The process culminated in a series of short performances shaped and performed by the children themselves.

Workshops were held in Ísafjörður, Fellabær, the Reykjavík area, and Varmahlíð/Sauðárkrókur, each concluding with a public presentation for the local community.

Supported by: The Children's Cultural Fund of Iceland, the Professional Performing Arts Fund, the Artists’ Salary Fund, the City of Reykjavík, Art for All, BRAS, Tónadans, and Reykjavík Dance Festival.
